WHAT IS FACELIFT?

Facelift is a surgical method that provides younger and more prominent facial features by correcting the sagging and wrinkles caused by aging. With aging, elasticity loss occurs in the facial skin; accordingly, sagging and contour irregularities occur especially in the jaw line and mid-face area. Aging of the face is not limited to this; bagging of the lower eyelids, sagging of the upper eyelids -sometimes limiting the field of view-, falling eyebrows, vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows and horizontal wrinkles in the forehead area are other signs of aging. With this surgery sagging especially in the face and neck area is removed, a more pronounced chin and face appearance is created. Excess sagging skin is removed, subcutaneous tissues are put together or hanged by lifting. Facelift can be combined with other surgical or non-surgical methods if necessary. (Botox, filling, fat injection etc.).

WHO CAN HAVE THIS PROCEDURE?

- Although it is usually applied to patients over the age of 45, people who develop signs of aging on the face and are not satisfied with this appearance
- People who develop signs of aging earlier due to genetic or environmental factors are candidates for face lift.

BEFORE FACELIFT SURGERY

Before the operation, the patient should express his/her expectations clearly to the doctor. The course of the surgery, postoperative recovery time and possible results are explained to the patient in detail before the operation.

FACELIFT SURGERY

Although the operation is often performed under general anesthesia, it can also be performed with local anesthesia under sedative support in cases where the patient has a condition that may interfere with general anesthesia or is not preferred by the patient.

AFTER FACELIFT SURGERY

After the operation, there is a general swelling and bruising in the face and neck area as seen after every surgery. This appearance decreases significantly within 1-2 weeks. There may be some feeling of tension on the face. This situation disappears within a few days. The patient can return to work within 1 week-10 days. The healing of the face continues in this process and the face starts to take its final shape after about 2 months. This process continues less obviously for up to 6 months - 1 year.
