WHAT IS POST-BARIATRIC SURGERY?
Post-bariatric surgery, also known as body shaping after excessive weight loss, is performed because of the severe increase in the number of people with excessive weight loss with the widespread use of strict diet programs and sports. Obesity, one of the biggest health problems of our age, creates a new problem that must be overcome with the body deformities that occur as a result of these weight-loss programs. TO WHOM CAN IT BE PERFORMED?

– Patients who have reached the targeted weight with intensive sports-diet programs and have remained stable at this weight for at least 6 months are the candidates for post bariatric surgery.
BEFORE POST-BARIATRIC SURGERY
As with all surgeries, it is recommended that smokers stop smoking at least 2 weeks before the post-bariatric surgery. The patient should inform the physician about the drugs used. In particular, blood thinners may need to be discontinued or rearranged before surgery. Patients usually wear compression socks before the operation.
POST-BARIATRIC SURGERY
Generally, body deformities that occur in people experiencing excessive weight loss are different from each other. Therefore, surgery planning is determined by the person. Various combinations of the aforementioned surgeries can be performed, and usually more than one surgery is required to perform them. For example, tummy tuck and thigh surgeries are not usually performed together and two separate surgical sessions are required for this. In this case, it is best fot these procedures to be planned by a doctor.
AFTER SURGERY
Postoperative hospital stay is usually 1 or 2 days, depending on the operations performed. Physical activity restrictions and corset use may be required for different periods after surgery. Permanent scars will occur in almost all of these surgeries. However, these scars will become unclear around 4-6 months and become more tolerable. In addition, when compared to the comfort and quality of life provided by these surgeries, stitch marks to be formed can be seen as a very minor problem.
